MONIQUENICHOLAS

Owner, Nicholas Brooklyn

Monique Nicholas is the owner of Nicholas Brooklyn, the Black-owned herbal apothecary on Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The business was founded in 1974 by her father, Randolph Nicholas, and she has grown it into a place for wellness, books, culture, and community.

She runs the store day to day — buying, events, customer questions, and community partnerships — and writes The Journal, the education series on this site, in her own words and from what she sees at the counter.

The Journal is education, not medical advice. Nothing here is meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease; talk with a qualified health professional about your own situation.
